WebIf the join type is "Azure AD Registered" then the device is not joined to Azure AD. So you don't need to "disconnect it" and then join it. Are you disconnecting it from the On-premise AD? If it's not currently Azure AD Joined, or AD Joined, then you can just join the device to Azure AD. There's nothing to disconnect from.
