It consists of three layers: P + diffusion, N well and a P substrate (see Fig. 6) forming two junctions, a shallow and a deep one, deposing on the surface a silicon dioxide layer (SiO 2) and a top metal layer, that is employed as an optical mask [6], [7]. To design a typical UV PD, so far there are four types of device structures that are widely investigated in the literature.
